SvO2

Mixed venous oxygen saturation

Philips SvO2 module provides continuous measurement of mixed venous oxygen saturation for adult and pediatric patients when used with Hospira (formerly Abbott) OXIMETRIX®3 technology.

The SvO2 module detects clinically significant SvO2 changes, which can be an early indicator of physiologic instability. The module allows comparison of patients’ oxygen delivery (DO2) and consumption (VO2). When SvO2 is used with SpO2 on the patient monitor, numerics and graphical trends for the measurements are shown side by side for easy comparison.

Specific features include:

  • SvO2 numeric reported as a percentage
  • Difference in arterial and venous oxygen saturation (SpO2 – SvO2 ) reported as a percentage
  • Light intensity bar for evaluating catheter position
  • SpO2 and SvO2 trended data
  • SpO2 – SvO2 trended data, providing an estimate of oxygen extraction ratio

SvO2 valuable in critical care and OR
Designed for use in critical care and surgical settings, SvO2 monitoring is especially valuable in patients with critical conditions, including:

  • Hemodynamic instability
  • Septic shock
  • High-risk cardiovascular conditions
  • Severe burns
  • Acute hypoxemic respiratory failure
  • Multi-system organ dysfunction
