Pushing the Boundaries
Essential new tools for congenital cardiac imaging and heart disease management, further expands the system’s scope.

New suite of tools for pediatrics and congenital heart disease

The new X7-2 transducer combines xMATRIX technology with PureWave  crystal technology for remarkable Live 3D Echo imaging in small pediatric patients. When coupled with proprietary advances in microelectronics, PureWave’s greater efficiency enables the X7-2 transducer’s amazingly compact size.

S12-4 and S8-3 optimization

The S12-4 and S8-3 transducers have been optimized to provide improved 2D and color Doppler sensitivity and aesthetics. These 2D performance enhancements improve the fundamental tissue presentation for more diagnostic confidence during pediatric exams.

Fetal echo analysis

A new fetal echo analysis package is now available. This package allows users to date and estimate the weight of the fetus, input patient LMP for dating, and perform measurements for basic biometry (BDP, AC, FL). The package supports multiple gestations.

Heart Failure management

Live 3D Echo

  • select larger 3D volumes, depending on anatomy, to better visualize the apex in patients with large hearts
  • option to trade off 3D volume size and a higher frame rate, based on patient (higher frame rate with 90x90 volume, today’s frame rate with 103x103 volume)
  • new Vision H setting – significantly enhances depth perception of 3D rendered anatomy

QLAB quantification software

  • new parametric imaging capability in 3DQ Advanced provides global LV timing and excursion information in an easy-to-read format that enables information sharing across modalities
  • enhancements in the Strain Quantification plug-in include improved workflow with TDI and Strain, the implementation of four M-lines to allow multiple ROI comparisons, a valve mechanics overlay on ECG to track opening and closing of aortic valves and mitral valve mechanics, and larger waveforms to improve ease of use
  • Greater sensitivity on all sector transducers and increased PRF range for all transducers, including the s7-2omni ands7-3t

Contrast imaging

  • improved LVO performance with LVO Tissue Specific Imaging preset – multiple imaging techniques now available to improve myocardium presentation for subtle wall motion changes
  • high MI and low MI with Flash implemented – supports real-time and triggered myocardial monitoring of contrast infusion
  • the S5-1 transducer’s extreme sensitivity to contrast detection may allow lower dose injections
  • high MI implemented – allows the preservation of PureWave S5-1 2D image quality while maintaining contrast sensitivity

Interventional cardiology

L15-7io transducer:

The new L15-7io compact, high frequency transducer is designed for intraoperative and superficial imaging. It provides direct contact for pre- and post-clamping of the aorta and enables a real-time review of repairs before closure in cardiac and vascular surgeries.

X7-2 xMATRIX transducer:The X7-2 transducer’s frequency range provides optimal Live 3D epicardial imaging of patches, valve replacements and other repairs.

Expanded vascular solutions

Transcranial Doppler:Superb TCD imaging is facilitated by new Tissue Specific Imaging presets for Doppler applications (TCD, Orbital and Small Window) on the S5-1 PureWave transducer. In addition, the D2tcd non-imaging transducer is available to support temporal and orbital imaging. A new analysis package and study information page provide a complete solution for analyzing and reporting transcranial study results.

L15-7io transducer:New Tissue Specific Imaging presets for superficial vascular applications are now available. The L15-7io  is an excellent transducer for graft harvest investigations prior to bypass as well as dialysis graft evaluations and superficial venous and arterial studies.

C8-5 transducer:The new C8-5 transducer enables carotid imaging, subclavian vascular access and working around wound covers.

S5-1transducer:New Tissue Specific Imaging presets for abdominal vascular and renal imaging are now available on the S5-1  transducer.

Improved information management and workflow with Xcelera 2.1

Managing images and data on the ultrasound cart and getting that relevant data off the system for use in other locations is just as important as the system’s imaging performance. The iE33 system’s icon-driven data management and built-in DICOM 3.0 support means easy review, quantification and storage of exam information using connectivity to our Xcelera information management. For echo labs ready to “go digital” or upgrade their current digital lab, Xcelera 2.1 is a powerful solution that can dramatically increase productivity. The Vision 2007 upgrade on iE33 further builds upon the iE33 and Xcelera systems’ information management strengths with:

  • Changes to the Xcelera 2.1 GUI emphasizing new image review and reporting workflow efficiencies
  • Xcelera 2.1 support for dual monitor display in the echo-viewing environment allows simultaneous viewing of images and the patient report
  • Improved left ventricular wall scoring feature utilizing anatomic or bulls eye diagrams to generate clinical statements based on wall motion segment scoring
  • New vascular reporting features including carotid, lower extremity arterial, visceral vascular and lower extremity venous studies
  • Additional multimodality viewing of CT, MR and Nuclear Medicine studies to extend functionality across the cardiology department
  • Vision 2007 on iE33 provides the ability to export loops created by QLAB to any compatible DICOM device for subsequent viewing
  • Xcelera 2.1 includes the capability of viewing both the 3D clip data from the iE33 and the volume data linked to the clip providing extended offline analysis
  • Compatibility with new iE33 file export refinements when stored on the Xcelera 2.1 including multiple JPEG compression levels for single frames, a monochrome export option and a user-selectable Send on Demand command
  • Improved data compression for both 2D and 3D iE33 files sent to the Xcelera system improving file transfer time and reducing study storage requirements
  • Integration of the Vision 2007 DICOM SR export features on Xcelera 2.1 specifically addressing pediatric and vascular studies
