Proper Use and Preparation
| It’s important to take time to adjust equipment correctly to minimize reaching and stretching, obtain and maintain good posture, and ensure that hands, arms and wrists are supported to eliminate unnecessary strain. It’s also beneficial to schedule regular breaks and incorporate recommended exercises to maintain fitness. Philips iU22 and iE33 systems have ergonomic designs that help keep sonographers in neutral positions: - Control panel articulation (swivel and extension) allows the sonographer to maintain the recommended neutral wrist position, avoiding carpal tunnel concerns.
- Monitor articulation allows the sonographer to position the display at the optimal distance to reduce eyestrain.
- Transducer changes are effortless with connector ports located within minimal reach and comfortable height, and single-handed operation of the connector.

Make It Your Workstation | Adjustability of the workstation, particularly the monitor and control panel, facilitates working postures that minimize biomechanical stress to the user. The iU22 and iE33 systems' design contributes significantly to scanning ease. The systems were developed with each user in mind – adjusting to everyone. - The ability to raise, lower and laterally articulate the monitor independently from the control panel allows the sonographer to optimize positioning and maintain an upright spine.
- By using the swivel and slide capability of the control panel, the sonographer can reduce reach and abduction in the non-scanning arm.
- The space under the control panel allows the sonographer to be positioned close to the system to reduce awkward posture.
- Supporting the feet on the system footrests or chair footring provides stability to the trunk.
- By optimizing the positions of the chair, exam table, system and patient, the sonographer can achieve the recommended 30-degree or less angle of abduction of the scanning arm.
