Transverse STIR Transverse STIR
  • Patient presented with recurrent non-tender mass.
  • MR demonstrates large organized haematoma with its own blood supply, confirmed at biopsy.

  • Pre-contrast image shows diffuse heterogeneity within haematoma.
  • MR provides superior contrast over conventional X-ray mammography.
    - Important with younger women where detection of lesions in conventional mammogram is difficult due to dense breast tissue.

  • Fat-suppressed imaging essential in delineation of tumor boundaries.
  • Proset 121 impacts little on scan time compared to SPIR
    - isotropic data set in 3:22 min
  • Resulting dataset, 1.1mm slice thickness, enables high quality MPR's
Note: Proset 1331 provides even better fat suppression, with an increase in scan time to about 3:50 minutes.
